The ancient fortress of Klis, located in Croatia, was once the capital of the Trpimirović dynasty. It holds great significance in terms of archaeology and architecture. The eastern side of the stone ridge is believed to have been an Illyrian fortress, which later transformed into a Roman castrum. The fortress, built over several centuries, showcases a blend of Venetian and Austro-Hungarian influences. Situated at an elevation of 358 meters, it features three levels and three rings of walls. The fortress’s unique positioning on an elongated vertical rock influenced its design and organization.
